Battle of the Plastic Bag

By Livia Peterson

The plastic bags are made of oil, particularly polyethylene - a material that is impossible to destroy and get rid of, causing the Earth's oceans to be filled with plastic bags and allowing sea life to die or extinct.

In Delhi, India, the garbage is laid bare and thus, the animals digest the plastic bags. The animals are unable to digest the plastic bags, blocking their digestive system. The Plastic Bag Squad confiscated plastic bags and some of them were worth lots of money, half of someone's income to solve plastic bag waste.

I think we should deal with the local bag waste as an individual first. As someone said in the video, they do not ask for bags when shopping. Use reusable bags, not plastic bags when shopping, as it does not take much to purchase reusable bags and bring them to the stores.

We should solve the plastic bag problem, locally and globally. First, locally, as it takes our actions to utilize reusable bags instead of plastic bags or not asking for a bag when shopping, depending on how many items you purchase. Secondly, globally, as it takes a community to commence an initiative to use less plastic bags, reusable bags, and such. Even though plastic bags may be worth lots of money in other countries, it is still harmful to the Earth, as it is now impossible to eliminate the plastic bags in our oceans.

The plastic bags should not be "understood", as this problem should be solved on an individual and community scale. Plastic bags are one of the many reasons causing global warming. If this problem is not solved, it will continue to get worse and harm the Earth on an even larger scale. If gets solved, we will be able to live on a better Earth.
